At GRATITUDESheart, our story is one of evolution, compassion, and the power of gratitude. It’s a journey we’ve been on for over two decades, and one that we continue to pour resources, effort and passion into each day.

Even before we were GRATITUDESheart, our journey began with Confetti Celebrations, a nonprofit that provided weekend spa retreats for women battling breast cancer. For 20 years, we offered these women a chance to relax, reflect, and connect with their closest female friends in a serene lakeside setting.

The name “Confetti Celebrations” came from a powerful ritual at the end of each retreat. Participants would stand on a dock, write down their blessings and burdens, tear up the paper, and toss it into the water like confetti. This symbolic act represented letting go of burdens while embracing blessings – a beautiful metaphor for the journey of healing.

The birth of GRATITUDESheart

As we looked to expand our reach beyond the Southeast, we brainstormed ways to generate more awareness and support for our mission. That’s when the idea of comfort companion gnomes was born. Initially conceived as decorative items with a charitable purpose, our gnomes quickly evolved into something much more meaningful.

We realized that these gnomes could be more than just decor – they could be comfort companions for those facing health challenges – especially children and women. 

We incorporated affirmations from retreat participants into the gnomes’ “skins,” creating tangible reminders of strength and resilience. The soft, portable design allows people to take their gnome companion to treatments and appointments.

Our gnomes serve another vital purpose – helping people reconnect with their inner selves during difficult times. When facing a health crisis, it’s easy to lose touch with the hobbies, passions and qualities that make you uniquely you. Our gnomes act as protectors of that inner spark, reminding people that their true essence remains even in challenging times.

As our focus shifted, we transitioned from Confetti Celebrations to GRATITUDESheart.

This new name reflects our belief in being grateful for both blessings and burdens. While we may wish to let go of life’s challenges, they shape us and make the good times even brighter. Gratitude encompasses it all.

Today, GRATITUDESheartis dedicated to giving back to our community, with a focus on supporting children’s healthcare and breast cancer organizations in the Atlanta area. Our gnomes bring comfort to kids in hospitals and adults facing health battles. But more than that, they represent the power of gratitude, resilience and human connection.
